Spectacular views, missing busses, hikes along rivers, Glacier Gorges, being massively impressed by nature's beauty, stone towers and freezing streams, rain catching up to us, catching busses and still getting wet from the rain

I really can't stress enough how beautiful this region is. The views are just spectacular and the air is so pure and clean.

We wanted to take the bus up to Grosse Scheidegg and then walk through the Rosenlaui valley but of course we missed that bus which goes only every hour. So yes, we walked up which turned out to actually not being that bad. It was a bit steep at certain points but other than that, easily achievable. We did that in May 2020 and I remember it still being a bit fresh whenever the wind would pick up.

After our picnic at Grosse Scheidegg we descended on the other side towards Rosenlaui. Naturally the views there were just as stunning and the clouds parted to let the sun through. We mostly followed the river Rychenbach which was very soothing. At least for me, I love water! 😉

My mom told me about the Glacier Gorge Rosenlaui there and that's where we were headed. The entrance fee to the Gorge is CHF 8.00 for adults and it definitely is worth a visit. The Gorge is massively impressive and it's so amazing to observe how nature takes its flow, how the water formed all of this in thousands and thousands of years. I'm always awed by these natural wonders. ✨

On the way back down we came by a plateau full of stone towers and made a break on a little stream. For me, this always means taking my shoes off and cooling my feet. The water is freezing but so refreshing, it definitely makes hiking a bit easier after. 🤗

I guess the weather wasn't really on our side that day because rain was coming closer by the minute and we still wanted to hike over to Grindelwald-First for the night. To be honest, I wasn't really in the mood for walking all the way up in the rain and it seemed like I wasn't the only one. So we decided to take the bus back up, this time getting lucky as there was one just coming around the corner. 🚌

Although we did still get wet from the rain on our way from Grosse Scheidegg to Grindelwald-First the hike was nice anyway. The views always make up for it. 😉
